Natural birth with pethidine First Time Mama, Alex

My waters broke at 9:30pm on the Tuesday and I had my first contraction at 1:30am on the Wednesday morning. Managed to breath through surges until 5cm at home, walking around and in the bath. I Went into hospital after an eventful car ride of more breathing and lots of reassurance and affirmations from my husband Shak .My pain threshold is awful so I did end up using gas and air until 8cm and then went onto pethadin from 8-10cm. Baby boy was born at 4:32pm on the Wednesday after a long, but positive experience. I couldn’t have had a better birth partner than Shak who was truly incredible and so supportive.
